On April 1st, 2020, the 2nd editions of the SIAM Foundation and Professional Bodies of Knowledge launched. Updated to reflect changes in the SIAM landscape and wider service management changes, the refreshed BoKs are essential reading for any SIAM practitioner.
The refresh project was led by Simon Dorst and Michelle Major-Goldsmith from Kinetic IT. Michelle and Simon have produced these three video explainers to tell you more about the refresh rationale and method, and the content changes to the Foundation and Professional BoKs.
Video 1 – The 2nd Edition Introduction
This video talks about the reason the refresh was needed, who was involved, the history of the BoKs, and the method and rationale for the refresh.
Video 2 – SIAM Foundation Bok 2nd Edition Explainer
In this video, Michelle and Simon explain the changes to the Foundation BoK in more detail. This includes updates to the SIAM and ITIL section, the addition of VeriSM, and the changes to the ISO and DevOps section. There is also consolidation of the challenges and risks.
Video 3 – SIAM Professional BoK 2nd Edition Explainer
In this video, the main changes to the Professional BoK are summarized. New content has been added to cover concepts like trust based management, measuring the service integrator, and non-conformant service providers.
