Service North 2022 Sponsor Profile: EXIN

Great sponsors make great events.

We are thrilled to have EXIN as one of our Service North Sponsors in 2022 and on this occasion we would like to say a huge thanks to them for being with us again.

In this blog, the Portfolio Director at EXIN, Suzanne Galletly talks about EXIN and the services they offer, the growth of the SIAM community but as well how you can boost your effectiveness in SIAM implementation.

About EXIN

We are EXIN, an independent examination institute focusing on competencies required in the digital world. We offer an end-to-end solution for certifying professionals.

We are proud to be part of the Software Improvement Group (SIG), as together, we are creating a healthier digital world. While SIG focuses on assessing and certifying IT Processes and Technology, we have our focus on People. Together, we cover the trifecta of People, Process, and Technology.

We have a long-standing reputation, having been founded in 1984 by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs to deliver independent IT certifications. Since then, millions of professionals worldwide have successfully achieved an EXIN certification in a wide variety of fields. We are pleased to be the exclusive provider of SIAM certifications and are a long-standing partner of Scopism. We take pride in  contributing to helping fulfill their vision to expand the SIAM community across the globe.

The growth of the SIAM community

We are extremely proud to be part of the SIAM community. I have known Claire Agutter for a long time, and I was very excited when she shared with me her ambition to create an International Body of Knowledge (BoK) for SIAM, as a way to address the specific challenges of multi-vendor service environments.

The standardization of SIAM best practices was further strengthened by EXIN’s introduction of an independent certification program to align to the BoK. This has had a positive effect on the growth of SIAM globally, as demonstrated by the fact that we have now certified thousands of professionals in SIAM, from more than 30 countries!

How to boost your effectiveness in SIAM implementation?

Perhaps many other sponsors at the conference will be talking about the organizational benefits of using SIAM, so I won’t add to this already long list! But of course, as a Portfolio Director at an exam institute, I cannot help but talk about how getting your team certified with up-to-date knowledge can boost your effectiveness in SIAM implementation!

One of the most important things about switching to a SIAM model is getting everyone on the same page, to be sure that all involved have a shared understanding of what needs to be achieved and how to do it. There is often an element of cultural change involved in implementing a SIAM model, as it relies on collaborative behaviors which may not even be second nature internally, let alone amongst suppliers working together. An effective way to achieve this goal is to undergo SIAM training and certification. Becoming certified has not only been proven to increase Return on Investment (estimated at around $10,000 USD per employee) but certified employees are also more confident and happier in their role, which is likely to increase employee retention. It seems there is a significant knock-on effect of having everyone in your organization on the same page!

SIAM in the next 5-10 years

The only way for SIAM, I feel, is up. The community grows bigger by the day, as more and more organizations are reaping the benefits of having a flexible approach to their multi-vendor delivery of services. This will only increase further as more organizations rally to take advantage of the possibilities of digital transformation.

SIAM is an extremely useful practice in the digital context, due to the focus on end-to-end integration and on developing collaborative behaviors. We have seen this growth reflected in the promising uptake of our EXIN SIAM certification program globally since it launched in 2017. We feel that this uptake will continue to show promise in the coming years.

An extra SIAM content for you

I mentioned the Return on Investment statistic earlier, you can read more about that on our blog. Secondly, we have a great interview with ServiceNow in Japan about SIAM implementation, do have a look at this if you’re interested. Furthermore, to get a good overview of how you can be the one to lead the seamless integration services in your organization, take a look at our Career Path certification: EXIN Service Integration Manager.

What are we doing at Service North 2022?

Finally, of course, stop by our virtual booth at the Service North conference! You can discuss with us all things SIAM certification and training related. What’s more exciting is that we will be making a special announcement at the event. Come and join us during the first sponsor and networking break for our live broadcast, on the 6th of April, at 9:35 BST!
