About Service Integratie Nederland

In this blog, Arjan van der Poel, Ronald Hoogeboom and Patrick Follon, the founders of Service Integratie Nederland talk about the importance of sharing SIAM best practices and building a community of SIAM professionals.

Service Integratie Nederland is an initiative of Patrick Follon (Follon & Partners), Ronald Hoogeboom (Altijd ContinuITeit), Hans Kompier (Hadamard Solutions), Arjan van der Poel (Suerte Associates) and Jan-Simon Swagemakers (Adspectus).

With this initiative we offer a platform where service integration best practices can be shared. We do this in various ways, like organising seminars, webinars, training and round tables.

Wednesday 11th of March 2020, just before corona lockdown started, Service Integratie Nederland, in collaboration with ASICS Europe, hosted the seminar ‘A Head Start with Service Integration’.

The theme of the seminar was ‘Collaboration’. How do you, together with your service integrator and key service providers, build a high-performing collaboration?

Collaboration is at the heart of SIAM

To us, collaboration of service providers towards a common goal (delivering world class end-to-end services to your customers) is at the heart of SIAM. Building a service integration capability that is able to facilitate this collaboration is the challenge.

And either you build it yourself or you engage with a partner in the market that has those capabilities in house: an external service integrator. We strongly believe that you don’t select those partnerships, but that you build them together.

For these partnerships to be successful, cultural fit is crucial. Also, the contract that is behind the partnership between customer organisation and service integrator should be built on mutual trust and openness, in order to accommodate for growth, flexibility and innovation.

Please join the presentation of Edwin Idema and Ronald Hoogeboom about how ASICS Europe chose their service integrator and how they together embarked on a journey to build their ecosystem of service providers.

Building the House of SIAM together

Optimal collaboration between all parties involved in the ecosystem requires that a number of practices are properly implemented. We like to use the metaphor of the “SIAM House” to explain what it takes to make good cooperation possible.

Only if all rooms (read: practices) are properly designed can parties work together optimally to deliver world class end-to-end services. During the SIAM Roadmap, the SIAM House is designed, built and continuously improved. The customer organisation and service integrator both have a responsibility in this.

The founders of Service Integratie Nederland have helped many customer organisations and service integrators in building their House of SIAM. They have developed an extensive set of training courses, business simulations, high impact workshops and assessments to support organisations in every phase of their SIAM Roadmap.

SIAM and digital transformation

We think that SIAM can be an important enabler for digital transformation. Organisations need to be able focus on value creation for their customers. This requires building capabilities in the area of demand management, innovation, etc.

Having a strategic partner that deals with service integration, management and coordination of service providers, provides the customer organisation the opportunity to be client facing, proactive and deal with the huge number of digital opportunities that exist.

Please, share your best practices

The excellent SIAM Body of Knowledge developed by Scopism and this yearly Service North event are a great way to share best practices in the SIAM community.

But we believe more sharing is needed. The more stories of success and failure are shared, the more mature service integration capabilities will grow. Nowadays, most organisations rely on a value network of service providers to be successful. Building and managing these value networks is what SIAM is about.
