SIAM Body of Knowledge
The Scopism SIAM Body of Knowledge (BoK) is a practitioner-led set of publications for designing, implementing, and improving Service Integration and Management (SIAM) in multi-provider environments.
Put simply, it’s the place to learn SIAM fundamentals (Foundation), apply SIAM at scale (Professional), and explore emerging topics through Compendiums. Access is free of charge through the Scopism SIAM Community (registration required).

What the SIAM Body of Knowledge is (and why it matters)
SIAM adds real, tangible value when services are delivered by multiple internal teams and/or external suppliers, and when end-to-end accountability, governance, and performance need to work as one coherent whole. The SIAM Body of Knowledge helps practitioners to:
- Build a shared understanding of SIAM concepts, roles, and responsibilities
- Design and run an effective service integrator capability
- Align cross-provider ways of working (governance, processes, reporting, and improvement)
- Apply SIAM principles to real-world challenges such as supplier onboarding, sourcing changes, and service transitions
- Progress successfully through the stages of the SIAM roadmap (Discovery & Strategy → Plan & Build → Implement → Run & Improve)
The Body of Knowledge structure: Core, Compendiums, and additional materials
The SIAM Body of Knowledge uses a layered structure so the core remains stable while guidance can evolve as SIAM practices develop. It includes:
- Core: The stable foundation of SIAM principles and baseline practices, including both SIAM Foundation and SIAM Professional.
- Additional/Compendiums: Smaller, more focused publications that explore emerging SIAM topics and intersections with other areas of practice and technology (for example SIAM and AI, or SIAM and Experience Management). Compendiums are updated more frequently, and new Compendiums are published each year.
- Expanded materials: Supporting resources available in the Community, including white papers, case studies, virtual events, industry-specific guidance, and community outputs.
This structure keeps the core consistent while allowing new topics and practical guidance to be added quickly.
How the Body of Knowledge is created
The Scopism SIAM Body of Knowledge is built with community involvement. In 2024, Scopism issued a call for authors and reviewers across the SIAM community and received extensive volunteer support. The 2025 BoK refresh had dozens of contributors from around the world. This practitioner-led approach ensures the Body of Knowledge reflects real implementation experience, not just theory.

The Scopism SIAM Content Council (a group of volunteers) governs updates and new publications. Compendiums are updated more frequently, new Compendiums are published each year, and each Compendium includes a feedback mechanism to gather practitioner input. Read more about the Content Council here.
SIAM Foundation introduces SIAM concepts, the SIAM ecosystem layers, roles and core practices. SIAM Professional builds on this with deeper guidance for designing and running SIAM operating models, governance, and cross-provider integration at scale.
