Scopism Approved: AllSports Business Simulation

We’re delighted to announce that the FIDDS AllSports Business Simulation has achieved Scopism Approved Product (SAP) status.
Scopism Approved status recognizes products and services that have been independently reviewed against Scopism’s expectations for quality, accuracy and alignment with established SIAM good practice laid out in the Scopism SIAM body of knowledge. The approval provides organizations with additional confidence that a product reflects recognized SIAM principles and delivers practical value for customers.
The AllSports Business Simulation stood out because it allows participants to experience SIAM concepts, uncovering them during multiple rounds of game play.
Learning SIAM by doing
Many organizations understand the theory behind service integration, and have experience of the challenges that arise when multiple internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders all have different priorities, objectives and ways of working.
The AllSports Business Simulation recreates this environment, and challenges participants[CA2.1][BL2.2] to find improvement opportunities. Over the course of a one-day facilitated business simulation, participants take responsibility for running a fictional sports retail organization supported by internal teams and multiple external suppliers. Initially, the organization experiences many of the issues that will be familiar to anyone working in a complex service ecosystem: siloed teams, unclear accountability, poor communication and supplier finger-pointing.
Across four interactive rounds, participants progressively improve the organization by introducing proven management approaches and seeing their impact immediately.
The simulation explores four connected disciplines:
- Service Integration and Management (SIAM) – developing collaborative governance across multiple providers, establishing the Service Integration Manager role and embedding SIAM within supplier relationships.
- Visual Management – using Kanban boards and Obeya techniques to create shared visibility of work, priorities and performance.
- Data-driven management – identifying information needs, selecting meaningful measures and building management dashboards that support better decision-making
- Continuous improvement – applying the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle between each round to demonstrate measurable operational improvement.
Throughout the day, participants respond to realistic incidents, changing business priorities, contractual challenges and operational pressures that closely reflect the realities of modern multi-provider IT environments.

Practical learning with immediate value
One of the strengths of serious games is that they create a safe environment in which participants can experiment, make mistakes and learn together. Rather than discussing supplier collaboration as a theoretical concept, teams experience first-hand how behaviors, governance and decision-making influence outcomes. The result is a shared understanding that can be taken directly back into the workplace. Early rounds of the game reflect the stress that can occur in a poorly functioning business environment, with order achieved through improvements during the day.
The simulation is suitable for mixed groups, including:
- Service managers
- Service integration managers
- Supplier and contract managers
- IT delivery teams
- Business stakeholders
- Leadership teams
Attendees don’t need to be from the same organization, and no previous knowledge of SIAM, Kanban or Obeya is required, with the necessary theory introduced throughout the day.
What is a Scopism Approved Product?
The Scopism Approved badge helps organizations identify products and services that support recognized SIAM good practice. Approval gives customers confidence that a product has been independently reviewed for its alignment with Scopism’s Body of Knowledge and practical application of SIAM principles. It complements a customer’s own evaluation by providing assurance that the product reflects established best practice.
“I had the opportunity to participate in the beta testing of the AllSports Business Simulation, and I was really impressed by how well it demonstrates the value of SIAM principles. We weren’t told we needed to do SIAM – we reached the conclusion naturally as the game progressed.
Simulations create a much deeper understanding than a presentation or workshop discussion alone can achieve. We experienced the frustrations, the breakthroughs and the measurable improvements as a team.
AllSports is engaging, practical and realistic, grounded in a recognizable business scenario.
For organizations introducing or strengthening SIAM capabilities, it’s an excellent way to build a shared understanding across customers, suppliers and internal teams before those lessons need to be applied in a live operational environment.
We’re pleased to welcome the FIDDS AllSports Business Simulation into the Scopism Approved portfolio and look forward to seeing more organizations benefit from this innovative approach to developing SIAM capability.”
